American tennis star Madison Keys made a surprise appearance during the first round encounter between Gael Monfils and Bjorn Fratangelo at the DC Open, in an attempt to support fiance Fratangelo during the match.

Fratangelo, ranked World No. 185, made it through the qualifying rounds to face the veteran Frenchman in the opening round. However, Monfils prevailed 6-3 6-4 in a highly entertaining match.

Keys and Fratangelo have been in a relationship since 2017 and announced their engagement in March 2023. They have been one of the most recognized couples on the tennis tour and have previously teamed up to play mixed doubles in a couple of tournaments.

Elina Svitolina, wife of Monfils, was also spotted supporting her husband during the match. Both women are competing in the ladies event at the DC Open.
