Kiki Bertens will be one of the 16 WTA players to take part in the 2020 Virtual Madrid Open as she already started the preparation.

Bertens had a very good beginning to the 2020 season. The Dutch outplayed her opponents in Petersburg to win the first trophy of 2020. After losing only 3 out of 15 matches played, Kiki will now need to prepare for a different kind of event.

She will play the 2020 Virtual Madrid Open alongside another 15 women from the WTA Circuit. Bertens already knows 7 of her opponents which are Azarenka, Keys, Kerber, Bouchard, Mladenovic, Suarez Navarro and Ferro. When joining the field of the players for the 2020 Virtual Madrid Open, Bertens said:

“I think the Virtual Project is a fun initiative for a great cause. I will certainly miss not playing in Madrid this year as I really like the tournament but I will do my best to compete from the couch at home in the Tennis World Tour game. I will try my best to perform as well in the virtual game this year as I did last year on-court in Madrid."

Now, she shared a picture of herself practicing the game on a PS4 console. Kiki also shared a message saying: "Just started my preparation for the Madrid Open virtual charity event. I hope my opponents will be ready."
