Kiki Bertens wrapped up her turbulent week s with a strong display against Rybakina allowing her to raise the Ladies Trophy for a 2nd straight year.
The number 2 seed Kike Bertens allowed her opponent just four games en route to another Ladies Trophy victory. She became the first player to successfully defended her title at the event doing so by beating Rybakina
6-1 6-3. It was a dominant showing for the World number 8 who needed just 74 minutes to do it.
Speaking to the media after the match the dutch player said:
"To defend your title, it's always something special. You come with such great memories, and if it happens where you have a beautiful trophy again, I'm more than happy."
She looked back on an emotional week that started with a tough loss for her in Fed Cup:
"This week was a really tough week. We lost Saturday night in the deciding doubles, 7-6 in the third set and 10-8 in the tiebreak. It was a really tough day. Sunday, I was flying here already, but I think I was still crying for the whole night because I felt so bad after that tough loss.
She thanked her team and gave them a lot of credit for pushing her during the week. She noted it was worth it because they got another title.
