Camila Giorgi had one of the best seasons of her career, winning the biggest title of her career at the WTA 1000 Masters event in Montreal before finishing the year ranked World No.36.
The Italian is known for her deceptively powerful groundstrokes, and recently received the award for best player of the year from the Italian Tennis Federation. In an interview with La Stampa, she spoke about her goals for next season and mentality on the court.
"I'm not going to stop here, my dream is to go up in the top ten of the ranking," said Giorgi. "On the court you have to be attentive and train your concentration. You must always be present to yourself and sometimes I think it's the heaviest part of being a professional player."
The 29-year old also spoke about her passions outside of tennis, and gave some insight on which players motivated her.
"Reading, I'm also passionate about writing. I like to vary," revealed Giorgi. "I'm studying to be able to write, I'd like to be able to take courses but now I just don't have the time. It's an idea that stays in the drawer,
"I am inspired by Juan Martin Del Potro, for me he is the strongest. And as a person in (Kei) Nishikori, two colleagues that I like very much for the talent and for the results achieved. But as a child I cheered for Agassi."
