Caroline Garcia is marching towards a trophy in her hometown of Lyon as she defeated another tricky opponent
Jasmine Paolini 7-5 7-5 for the semi-final.
Garcia played a solid match showcasing a decent level albeit not her best. She was able to play her best when it mattered the most and sometimes that's just enough to win close matches as this one. Paolini tried her best but came up short in the biggest moments, especially in the second set where she had a decent chance.
The first set featured both players playing some solid tennis albeit Garcia was the only one that was able to create any kind of pressure with her returns. She missed out on a set point at 5-4 but got it done a bit later 7-5. She was just a bit sharper overall losing only five points on her serve in the entire set.
The second one opened well for both players but Paolini was actually able to break Garcia first. It was a huge break considering how well Garcia was playing on her serve but she also gave it right back. The ending to the match was quite exciting as Paolini saved a match point down 4-5 but also wasted a 40-15 advantage in the next game.
Eventually it ended 7-5 for Garica.
