Coco Gauff will finally make her top 10 debut and it comes after she made another solid run at the US Open event.
The American will be glad about entering the top 10 but she fell short of her goal at the US Open. She wanted to win the event or at least play in the final so this achievement, while good for her overall career, won't be enough to erase the disappointment of an early exit from the US Open.
A couple of things are notable though. She will become the youngest American to debut in top 10 since Serena Williams did it in 1999. Williams was 17 when she did it while Guaff is 18. Since turning eighteen in March Gauf enjoying quite a bit of success with solid showings at a couple of events, including the Roland Garros where she played her maiden grand slam singles final.

- I heartily disagree with Stubbs here. I mean c'mon! The whole idea of giving out wildcards is to give new & up-coming players a chance at getting as much circuit match-practice under their belts as possible. And this is a HUGE must and opportunity for these new kids on the block. Why curtail opportunities for these newbies in favour of stalwart monopoly?? That just isn't fair. At least give these lesser known players a chance to become more familiar at playing in bigger tournaments & give them also a chance of getting the crowds behind these underdogs.
