Danielle Collins threw away a lead over Donna Vekic in the rain-plagued San Diego semi-final but she returned with a win in Guadalajara 6-4 6-1.
Collins was widely considered a huge favourite in this match and after some early problems, she was able to get it done. Dolehide made her way through the qualifiers and while has been playing rather well lately, there was nothing she could do against Collins.
The older American lost her serve in the first game after misfiring a couple of times but broke back immediately. From there it was a slow march towards the conclusion of the first set as she took it 6-4.
After finally getting the first set done, Collins was able to relax a bit and she started hitting winners as she so often does. An early break added even more confidence to her game and she took another one cruising to a 6-1 finish.
Overall a very solid performance for Collins who moves on after 73 minutes of tennis.
