Djokovic edges Swiatek as top earner in 2022 with record $4.7m haul

Novak Djokovic edged out Iga Swiatek as the top tennis earlier in 2022 by getting a huge payday in Turin worth 4.7 million.

Novak Djokovic broke a record by winning the ATP Finals in Turin as he got the single biggest prize money haul in tennis history. The ATP Finals awarded 4.7 million total for a player if he won the event and went undefeated while doing so.

Djokovic did just that and by doing so, he pushed his total prize money for this year to 9.93 million which is over two million more than Carlos Alcaraz earned in his breakout year. It was also enough to become the biggest earner in tennis this year as he edged out Iga Swiatek who earned only 55.000 less than Djokovic.

She had to win double the amount of events Djokovic did to nearly match him once again showcasing the pay gap in the sport.
