The 2007
Wimbledon Championships saw
Venus Williams become the first woman to receive equal prize money as her male counterpart at the event, and the five-time champion spent some time recalling the historic occasion.
Following her first round loss to Elina Svitolina at this year's event, the American gave her thoughts on equal pay when someone mentioned an unnamed player assumed both men and women had always received equal pay.
Williams is glad that's no longer an issue
"I don't think any woman should have to worry about if they're getting paid equal," said the 43-year old. "I'm very happy that no woman again at a Grand Slam has to even concern herself with that. She can just play tennis."
