Elina Svitolina is a proud Ukrainian and she rarely missed an opportunity to express that with the most recent affection towards her native country being a charity event hosted in Kyiv.
Elina Svitolina did not have the best year in 2021 but the year still had a couple of highlights for the Ukrainian. She was able to play some of her best tennis at the Olympic Games where she was able to win the Bronze Medal for Ukraine. She also got married in her private life to non other than the French tennis player Gael Monfils.
Now, away from the courts, Svitolina decided to make a difference in her native country of Ukraine where she hosted a charity event for the 2nd time in her life. The charity event was hosted in the capital city of Kyiv with the goal being to distribute all the proceeds to build an international tennis academy for kids. The Ukrainian also spoke at the event touching upon her marriage by saying:
"Gael, he’s more like a supporting person for me, for sure. We
chat a lot about tennis. But, you know, it goes either
way. I also support him. He has his coaching team as well. We’re not
really coaching each other. It’s more massive support that we have for
each other."
