On these courts which are unique, I doubt too many players beat Ostepenko today. That was a ridiculously good performance. Emma did nothing wrong. Just too good from the other.
Former player and tennis analyst Mark Petchey defended Emma Raducanu after she got smashed by Jelena Ostapenko at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix.
Raducanu returned to tennis for the first time since the Miami Open yesterday and she got smashed by Ostapenko pretty easily continuing her struggles. The Brit will likely drop in ranking next week and and come fairly close to dropping out of the top 100 altogether in the coming weeks which could force her to play qualifiers in order to enter events.
Petchey took to Twitter to defend Raducanu and her performance explaining that Ostapenko was too good:
"On these courts which are unique, I doubt too many players beat Ostepenko today. That was a ridiculously good performance. Emma did nothing wrong. Just too good from the other."
