Emma Raducanu is preparing to return to the court in the Billie Jean King Cup after recovering from an injury. The 2021 US Open champion played at the Korea Open six weeks ago, reaching the quarterfinals, but had to withdraw midway through her match against Daria Kasatkina after twisting the ligaments in her left foot.

Following this, Raducanu decided to end her schedule in Asia, despite her initial plans to compete in the WTA 1000 China Open and Wuhan Open. Nevertheless, her recovery seems complete; she’s back in training and is expected to join Team Great Britain against Germany starting November 13.

The former World No. 10 has resumed training at the LTA’s National Tennis Centre, and all indications are that she will travel with the team to Malaga. "Emma is training well and being with the team next week is her focus," Raducanu’s team mentioned, according to the Daily Mail.

Aiming for the BJK Cup Finals is Raducanu’s goal to end the year. In April, she was a key figure in Great Britain’s victory over France, winning her two singles matches against Diane Parry and Caroline Garcia, just months after returning to the Tour and still ranked outside the WTA top 200.

Raducanu will likely play as the second singles player, as captain Anne Keothavong considers Katie Boulter, currently World No. 23, as Britain’s No. 1. Boulter is in great form, having reached the semifinals at the Tokyo Open and the final at the Hong Kong Open. They will join doubles specialists Harriet Dart and Heather Watson.

Team Great Britain will face Germany, which will feature Tatjana Maria, Jule Niemeier, Laura Siegemund, and Eva Lys. The winning team will go on to challenge defending champions Canada, led by 2021 US Open runner-up Leylah Fernandez.
