Fernandez moves into Quarter-Finals during WTA 125 in Mexico

Leylah Fernandez remained in Mexico after Guadalajara to play some more tennis and she's in the quarter-final.

The Canadian is still trying to find her way after returning from injury and smaller events like this are the perfect chance to build confidence. She's facing players that are not on her level and she's able to win rather easily which is the goal.

She hasn't had much success this year and the injury derailed a good chunk of it so being able to play tennis once more is great for her.

She faced You Xiaodi and easily bested her 6-3 6-2 to move on and set up a clash against compatriot Marino. The Canadian is a strong server and plays well from the baseline so Fernandez will have her hands full. This will be their first clash.

If she can win this event it would finish off an okay season and set her up perfectly for next year.
