Gauff throws away victory against Potapova in Miami

Coco Gauff served for the match against Anastasia Potapova but the American completely folded after that allowing the Russian to dominate and win the match 6-7(8) 7-5 6-2.

It was a very crazy match with a really high level from both players. The first set was incredible and went to a tiebreak which Gauff won 10-8. Potapova had an early lead serving for the set at 5-3 but she then lost a couple of games in a row to give Gauff a chance to take the 6-5 lead. Gauff failed to serve it out so we ended up in a crazy tiebreak that had 18 points.

Both had set points but Gauff ultimately won it. The second set saw Gauff break at the perfect time to make it 5-3 with a chance to finish off the match. She lost her serve and then completely folded to lose the set 5-7. Potapova peaked at that time with her level as Gauff simply couldn't match her.

The main problem with Gauff is that she doesn't really have a weapon to win the match. Potapova had her groundstrokes working really well in the second part of the match and that was the key to winning. She took rallies away from Gauff with her superior ball-striking ability and that was clearly evident in the final set where she smashed her 6-2.
