"Go f**k yourself": Yulia Putintseva drops clown emoji and cold receipts to expose Maria Sakkari after fiery feud

The tennis world is ablaze after a fiery post-match feud erupted between Yulia Putintseva and Maria Sakkari at the Bad Homburg Open, and now, Putintseva has hit back in spectacular style.
Following a tense handshake and a barrage of x-rated insults, including Sakkari telling her Kazakhstani rival, "nobody likes you," Putintseva took to Instagram to post what fans are calling "cold receipts", and she didn’t hold back.
The tension spilled over moments after Sakkari’s 7-5, 7-6 victory on Sunday. While the two women technically shook hands at the net, it was anything but friendly.
Footage shows Sakkari taking issue with Putintseva’s brief over-the-net handshake. "Act like a human being," the Greek star snapped.
The argument escalated with Sakkari trailing Putintseva to her bench, asking: "F****** hell, I'm what?" before declaring, "Nobody likes you!" - a line that sent shockwaves through the tennis community.
Even the umpire had to intervene, pleading, "Ladies, please.".
Putintseva ended the confrontation with a sarcastic bow and a bitter "thank you very much," all while walking off the court as the tension continued to boil.
Less than 24 hours later, Putintseva clapped back on Instagram, and she brought receipts.
First came the repost. Sharing a video from @thetennispulse, she highlighted Sakkari’s scolding at the net, "When you shake hands, look the other person in the eye", followed by clips of Sakkari herself avoiding eye contact with Emma Raducanu and Martina Trevisan in previous matches.
Putintseva’s caption? A pointed "And the plot thickens…" complete with a clown emoji, a not-so-subtle jab at Sakkari’s hypocrisy.
Then came the mirror selfie where she said the following on her Instagram story: "By the way – not that I care – I shook her hand as most women do,” she wrote. "Clearly not according to the ‘hugging protocol’ some men seem to follow."
While many applauded Putintseva’s no-nonsense response, others were quick to point out her checkered past.
Footage from last year’s US Open resurfaced, showing Putintseva ignoring a ball girl’s attempts to pass her the ball: a moment that triggered audible boos from the crowd. She later apologized and claimed she was lost in thought.
"It’s kind of scary the way the world can judge someone from just a three-second video," she wrote at the time. "I didn’t do anything disrespectful to anyone… I do apologise if this girl thinks it was something towards her."
She admitted she wasn’t perfect, adding: "I am getting angry on court, p***ed, saying stupid stuff and curse like no tomorrow sometimes. Guilty for that. But I did never put myself ‘on top’ of someone. That’s just not me at all."
As fans continue to debate who crossed the line, one thing’s certain: the Sakkari–Putintseva rivalry has just reached a boiling point and the tennis world is watching closely.
With Wimbledon around the corner, don’t be surprised if this feud continues to grab headlines and spark even more drama on and off the court especially if they meet again.
