Jelena Ostapenko is through to the Eastbourne International final after defeating Elena Rybakina in the final 6-4 6-1.
It was a sensational win from the former Wimbledon semifinalist who struck 38 winners to 30 unforced error en route to the victory. It's a great run for Ostapenko who struggled with form all season long and entered Eastbourne as a wild card. On the win she said:
"I'm really happy with the way I played this week, and every match I played better and better. It's been a while [since making a] final, so I'm really happy to be in a final and looking forward to tomorrow's match."
In the final, she will face Anett Kontaveit from Estonia. It's a Baltic clash between the Estonian and Latvian with Ostapenko looking forward to it. She said:
"I think tomorrow is not going to be an easy match. We will have some good rallies, I think. Just looking forward, it's great to be in the final and just to enjoy it, because as I said, grass court season is very short. So I just want to enjoy it and to show my best."
Ostapenko became the first Latvian to reach the final and perhaps she will become the first one to win Eastbourne International. Come back tomorrow to find out.
