American tennis star Sloane Stephens was honored by Hope for Haiti as the organization planted 3000 tree seedlings to celebrate her 30th birthday.
Hope for Haiti is a Florida-based non-profit organization that aims to improve the lives of children in Haiti, a nation that has been plagued by several challenges over the last few years. Stephens had previously worked with the organization, assisting them in their efforts to build a school in Haiti.
On May 1, the former World No.3 took to social media to announce that Hope for Haiti would be planting 3,000 tree seedlings to commemorate her 30th birthday.
"In honor of today's Haitian Agricultural and Labor Day, @hopeforhaiti is planting a portion of the 3,000 tree seedlings that were recently gifted to Hope For Haiti to commemorate my 30th birthday and support the important reforestation efforts in southern Haiti!" Stephens captioned her Instagram story.
Stephens is married to American soccer play Jozy Altidore, who has Haitian roots, and the duo have been actively trying to help improve the lives of children in his home nation.
