World number one Aryna Sabalenka has opened up about the doping scandal that has rocked the tennis world. In the recent past, tennis as a sport has suffered significant impact after some of the top players have been found guilty of doping.

The list includes the likes of world number one in men’s tennis, Italy’s Jannik Sinner, and women’s world number two, Poland’s Iga Swiatek. Sinner tested positive for the banned substance Clostebol in two doping tests back in March.

Interestingly, the 23-year-old, who is regarded as the best player in men’s tennis in the singles category, escape any ban as the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) accepted the player’s counsel’s response where they claimed that the availability of the banned substance in the player’s sample was because of receiving cream for the treatment of an injury from one member of the coaching staff.

On the other hand, Swiatek received a one-match suspension after testing positive for the banned substance trimetazidine. Most recently, Australian Max Purcell became the latest tennis player who has been tested positive for banned substance. He admitted his fault and entered into a voluntary provisional suspension. The suspension will see the 26-year-old miss the upcoming Brisbane International as well as the first Grand Slam of the year — the Australian Open.

Women’s world number one Sabalenka has been recently quoted in a report by Nine.com.au where she explained her reaction to such news. The three-time Grand Slam winner was of the opinion that it is very hard to know the truth, whereas they also admitted that people overreact most of the time after hearing such news. "I feel like we will never know the truth," she said. "People are overreacting at the first minute the big news comes out. I feel like, I don't want to dig too deep into that case. I really believe in a clean sport, so I don't want to comment on that anymore."
