Australia’s
Ajla Tomljanovic shared an emotional message on
the social media. The 31-year-old has gone through a rough patch over the last
few years, but things started to change in the recent past with some impressive
performances.
This season, however, has been another struggling one for Tomljanovic, who has managed to win just six out of her 13 matches, losing seven in the
process. Her most recent outing came in the WTA 125 event, where she suffered a defeat to Spain’s Carlota Martínez Cirez in the round of 32 in straight sets with a score of 6-4, 7-6.
Tomljanovic, in a post on her official account on the social
media platform Instagram, shared a message of resilience. The reigning world
number 79, who is famous for beating the former world number one Serena
Willaims in what turned out to be her last match in professional tennis, stated
that she has leant to be ‘grateful’ for every little that has happened in her
life and that she is happy wherever she is today.
“I often have to remind myself to every now and then stop
and feel present in whatever part of my journey I’m in,” she wrote. “We are
often so concerned with getting to the next step, the next win, that we
completely neglect where we are now. While you’re busy chasing all the goals
and dreams, don’t forget to appreciate every aspect of the rollercoaster you’re
on, the pretty, the ugly, the wins, the losses and all the life in between that
happens… One day you’ll look back and what will stand out the most will be all
the memories you’ve made with your people. I’ve learned to be grateful for
every little thing that’s happened to me because it got me to where I am today,
and I kinda like it here. So here’s to trusting the process and listening to my
shirt.”
