Maria Sharapova is a retired tennis player and since then she has had time to allocate her time to several things she enjoys.
The Russian has always been full of interests besides tennis and one thing that has always sparked her interest was architecture and different types of it. As a tennis player, Sharapova was able to travel the world extensively seeing many different places and cultures. Speaking on that she said:
"One of the things I enjoyed during traveling was architecture. It started with my love for Frank Gehry, who is an
incredible, incredible architect to this day and is designing some of
the most forward-thinking and interesting buildings and homes."
She further said:
"My goal as a young
girl was to find a Frank Gehry-designed building. Because they were so distinct and obvious in look and feel, whenever I
would go to Prague or Australia, my mission was to find one and
photograph it for my mom."
While Sharapova never studied architecture in depth she did have a hands-on approach when it came to shaping the look of her home. Sharapova had a very special idea about her house and she worked closely with the architecture building it the way she wanted.
