Simona Halep is returning to play following her Prague victory in August and she says she is ready to play at a tournament she loves.
Simona Halep is returning to play in Rome and she looking forward to playing at an event she loves. It will be her first event since the Prague Open in August which she won. Speaking about the return to play she said:
"I feel comfortable, and I feel all ready to play here. I love this tournament. I love the French Open. Hopefully, I can play my best and win some matches."
Speaking about the fact that the clay season is underway and in full swing Halep said:
"I feel good on clay. I always have been, like, secure and happy on the clay. Now I have, like, four or five months playing only on clay. I’m not used to that because the previous years we play just a little bit."
When asked about her decision to skip the US hardcourts events Halep admitted she was unsure whether that will be proved advantageous or disadvantageous to her going forward. She said:
"Yes and no, because yes, because I had the chance to practice on clay only, and no, because I didn’t have official matches. So both sides I think have advantage if we know how to take it. I’m going to give my best every match I play, and let’s see what’s gonna happen."
