Emma Raducanu failed to replicate her US Open success in the weeks after the success and the Brit is now ready for a holiday.
It's been quite a whirlwind of a finish to a year by Raducanu who experienced tremendous exposure socially after her recent US Open run. The added pressure and media interest is something Raducanu needs to get used to and her results tennis-wise haven't been the best either. On everything that has happened she said:
"Everything that has happened to me this season has been a great surprise for me. I know there are many people who look at what I do or don't do, but I am aware that all I have to do is stay focused and hug me to trustworthy people."
She also explained that she needs some time away from tennis noting a holiday would be nice:
"My parents will surely help me do this, I have to keep my feet on the ground and they have a good influence on me. I have not been on vacation for seven years, the last time was a weekend in Switzerland with my parents, now I want to do something similar."
Raducanu also explained that the time away from tennis will help her prepare mentally for the 2022 season where she has big plans with her new coach:
"I need to disconnect from tennis for a few days and I want to be mentally prepared for next season.
I am very hungry for success and I want to win and do well. I am thrilled to
work with him, I believe we will do a great job together. He will
bring me her experience and everything he did with Angie was fantastic,
it was fundamental to help her win and achieve success and she is a
positive and very nice person and I hope to enjoy this new stage with
him."
