Emma Raducanu breaks silence after withdrawing from
Billie Jean King Cup Finals in Glasgow admitting disappointment.
Raducanu injured herself during the last event she played in Ostrava and was forced to scrap plans of playing at the WTA event in Cluj-Napoca. She pulled out of the rest of her events as well but hoped to be ready for the Billie Jean King Cup Finals in Glasgow.
Great Britain did not qualify for the event initially but they were chosen as the host nation when they replaced the defending champions Russia, as they were removed from the competition. A large reason why Great Britain got the event was due to Raducanu and the excitement she brings but unfortunately, she won't be there.
She broke her silence on the matter saying to LTA:
It’s disappointing to get the news from the doctors that I won’t be ready in time, particularly with it being on home soil. I tried to do everything possible to get it ready in time, since my last tournament I have been working every day on physical training and rehab. I’ve got confidence in my teammates and look forward to playing next year,"
It was always going to be pretty impossible for her to come back so soon as wrist injuries are tricky to handle and quite dangerous if not dealt with it properly.
