Venus Williams hasn't played since losing late August and the Chicago 2 event but the American tennis legend confirmed she will be back.
Her return to tennis was supposed to happen at the Australian Open earlier this year when she was awarded a wild card entry but she was forced to abandon those plans because of injury. She is yet to play tennis this year but even though she is unsure when she will come back this year she did confirm she will during a Q and A session.
"You asked when am I coming back. I
will let you know but I will be back and I will be playing, I think
you're going to see a very grateful person who's just ready to compete
and enjoy the game."
Asked whether she would be nervous about coming back she confirmed that it's just part of life and tennis:
"Yeah, Yeah! Nerves are part of life, nerves are a part of being human. I've done that before, like,
'Why am I nervous? I'm a professional, why should I feel?' It's normal,
it's like your body, like your, you know adrenaline in your nervous
system getting yourself ready to compete. So that's how I choose
to look at it now, it's like my body's prepping me to just do this
amazing, hopefully, superhuman stuff with my big biceps. And so that's
how I look at it now, and I think more than anything, gratitude, like I
get to be out here, I get to compete."
