Ons Jabeur Madrid Open 2021
Ons Jabeur missed the Australian Open due to an injury but came back to play fantastic tennis at the Dubai Tennis Championships.
Her latest masterpiece came against Jessica Pegula who was left speechless after some of the moments of brilliance Jabeur was able to produce. The Tunisian player is playing very aggressive tennis that is a bit different from her usual style. After the win Jabeur spoke about taking things slowly and not flying high after the super victory:
“I'm going to take every match slowly. I came back from an injury, so I want to be realistic with myself. My main goal is to be healthy and win matches. Every match I win is a bonus. The season is still long. I don't want to put unnecessary pressure on myself. I don't want to be disappointed after. For now it's working well for me. Hopefully I can continue like that.
Jabeur still has aspirations of lifing the troph and she is only a few matches away from that:
"Of course [I want to win the title]. Who doesn't want to win? Especially me in Dubai or Qatar, it's amazing. I really want to win a WTA title one of these days here.”
Jabeur was happy to keep it short as she understand that the battle agains Halep will be hard:
"I'm really happy with the way I played. I wasn't expecting that at all, especially after yesterday's match. I'm glad that I kept it short, not a three-setter. This gives me a lot of confidence for next match, for sure.”
