Poland cruised past Romania in the Billie Jean King Cup qualifiers with 3-0 as Iga Swiatek secured two of those points.
The Polish team was heavily favoured in this matchup thanks to Swiatek who still has an active winning streak that started over a month ago. She is currently the best player in the world and she certainly played like it on Saturday besting her opponeng 6-0 6-0. After the match, Swiatek was overcome with joy saying:
"I'm really proud of us. I was really working hard for that even though I did not play the competition last year. I feel like it's been a long journey. It took us a few years, step by step to progress and finally qualify. It just shows how strong of a team we are. Hopefully, in the Finals, we will show even more progress."
The world number one won her second match with a double bagel, her 2nd career double bagel victory with the first one being won with 6-1 6-0. She will now turn her attention to her singles career once more as she is set to play in Stuttgart at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix.
