Serena Williams will play her first event without
Patrick Mouratoglou as her coach and it is the first time in a decade that that has happened.
Williams and Mouratoglou parted a couple of months ago when the French coach was approached by Simona Halep to be her coach. It was not known why they parted ways but a few weeks ago Mouratoglou explained that he wanted to see Williams in practice for Roland Garros but she did not want to do it and they separated due to differing views.
Asked about that at
Wimbledon Williams was surprised by the questions and she did not have a great response ready. She said:
"I didn't even think about it. It feels good. I'm having a wonderful time but I just haven't think about that."
It seems like a very interesting report and rather a cold one so it seems like the parting of ways was perhaps not as smooth as everyone was led to believe. We'll see how she does.
