Madison Keys defeated Coco Gauff in the Adelaide International semifinal and after the match, visibly emotional Keys admitted how much it means.
It's been a few years since Madison Keys played some grand slam semifinals and it's been a struggle for the American. She is yet to discover the same level that allowed her those results but some of that magic was found down under. In Adelaide, she will contest the final after defeating Coco Gauff in a comeback win. On the victory and week in general she said:
"It means a lot more than anyone would even know. It's definitely not the biggest final I've ever been in, but it means a lot after the year I had."
It's been more than just a hard year for Keys who at times seemed quite annoyed about being on the court. It's not by chance that she admitted after the match that she found enjoyment in tennis again. It's visible in her emotions on the court as well as the level she is displaying.
She said:
"I am really enjoying tennis again and trying to not act as if every match is the last match that I'll ever play in my life."
