Leylah Fernandez suffered a stress fracture in her foot during Roland Garros and now she's finally ready to return to competition.
It's been a long time since Leylah Fernandez was able to compete on a tennis court but the Canadian is excited about making her return back home in Canada. Fernandez had her foot immobilized for weeks to help heal a stress fracture and she spent most of her time watching TV or reading. Now, she's ready to tackle it all again.
Speaking ahead of the Toroton event, Fernandez admitted it's been a rollercoaster of emotions:
"Since RG it has been a rollercoaster with my emotions.... A few days ago when I did get the green light from my doctor, that was the best hour and a half of news that I could ask for. I'm just excited to be back to compete."
