Both
Venus Williams and
Serena Williams have established legacies that will see them remembered as WTA legends forever, but Venus believes that playing against her sister on the biggest stages on Tour was one of her greatest accomplishments.
The older Williams sister has collected seven Grand Slam singles titles, in addition to multiple Olympic gold medals. Although Serena has been more successful with 23 Grand Slam singles titles, Venus states that competing against her sister was a childhood dream come true.
"Yeah, it's a dream come true," Venus said in a recent interview. "It's a dream. It's what we dreamt about growing up. I think a lot of people think 'oh wow what's it like to play your sister' and I'm like 'yeah it's awesome' I'd love to see her get there.
"I love to get there, it's just the most exciting thing in the world. I don't think it happens that often in sports too so I've done it quite a lot."
Furthermore, the 41-year old is also grateful to her parents for teaching them valuable lessons, which had a great impact on their lives.
"Mom and dad - they had unwavering values for us that we had to take on as our own," Venus said. "I'm so excited to say I am just like my mom and dad, the transformation is complete, the upload is finished, I am them."
