A very interesting match happened in Guadalajara between
Bianca Andreescu and
Jessica Pegula with the American proving better 6-4 6-4.
Andreescu has played some darn solid tennis lately but the Canadian is still unable to really string together multiple great matches. She started well in this one breaking Pegula in the very first game but she soon surrendered her serve as the errors kept piling up.
Pegula possesses a similar ball-striking ability but her tennis has been far more stable and consistent this year and it proved key in this match as well. Once the errors started to show, Andreescu quickly lost confidence and we saw more and more of them.
She had a pretty big hold in the finish of the first set to extend it a bit more but Pegula was clinical on her own serve taking it 6-4. The second set was a bit easier for the American as she was in good rhythm fully believing in herself and it showed.
Pegula did have a minor slip when she dropped her serve the first time she serve for the match but she was much better the second time around closing it out 6-4.
