Turkey provided Ukraine with its facilities to host the
Billie Jean King Cup tie between them and the Czech Republic with Krejcikova and Vondrousova doing their thing.
The first match saw Vondrousova take on Kostyuk on the clay courts of Antalya and it was Vondrousova who proved much better. Kostyuke was overwhelmed with emotions before the match took place during the anthems and she simply did not have the focus in the match. Vondrousova, a former Roland Garros champion won easily 6-2 6-1.
It was a battle as the match lasted almost 90 minutes but Kostyuk simply was not able to hold her level high enough to counter Vondrousova who excels on clay. The second match between Zavatska and Krejcikova was much closer overall. It lasted longer than 90 minutes and saw Zavatska put up a really solid performance though Krecjikova was better.
She's excellent on clay and as a former Roland Garros champion she knew exactly what to do. The final score in that one was 6-4 6-3 in that one as the Czech Republic holds a decisive lead.
