Leylah Fernandez shares delight as sister follows in successful footsteps with Player of the Week accolade

Canadian tennis star Leylah Fernandez recently took to social media to react to some heartwarming news. The former US Open runner-up's sister, Bianca Fernandez, was selected as the Pac-12 Woman's Player of the Week, and the older Fernandez could barely contain her joy.

Bianca Fernandez was presented with the award for the week of April 1-7, 2024. An athlete at UCLA, Bianca won all her six matches across both singles and doubles. Additionally, the victory also marked UCLA's sixth Pac-12 Women's Player of the Week in 2024.

The younger Fernandez sister has some experience on the professional tour. In 2022, she reached the semifinals at two ITF W15 Santo Domingo events and an ITF W15 Lima event in 2019. Last year, she reached the quarterfinals at the ITF W25 Santa Margarita di Paula event. Nonetheless, following the announcement, Leylah took to Instagram to celebrate Bianca's achievement.
