Leylah Fernandez wins Billie Jean King Cup Qualifiers Heart Award

Canadian tennis star Leylah Fernandez has been awarded the Billie Jean King Cup Qualifiers Heart Award, which is given to players who have shown outstanding commitment to their team during the event.

Fernandez has been a strong presence for Team Canada, and aided her team in reaching the Billie Jean King Cup Finals, which will take place from November 7-12, 2023.

"Playing for Canada always brings out the best in me as there’s nothing like being part of a team and competing together. Thank you to everyone who voted!” said Fernandez.

After her surprise run to the 2021 US Open final, Fernandez has been inconsistent on tour, suffering early exits along the way. However, the 20-year old is full of heart and fighting spirit, which has enamored her to millions of fans around the world. Furthermore, at such a young age she still has the potential to climb back up the WTA rankings and establish herself as one of the best players on tour.
