Marta Kostyuk begins Miami Open with a win over Cocciaretto

Marta Kostyuk is keeping her tennis level high after winning Austin adding another win to her 2023 tally, a straight sets one over Elisabetta Cocciaretto.

The Ukrainian tennis player is playing some really strong tennis in recent weeks and she added another win in Miami. Taking on a tricky player in Cocciaretto who can play a solid level on hard courts, Kostyuk found herself completely comfortable on the court keeping the match in two sets. The conditions in Miami favour an aggressive playstyle and we always see that from Kostyuk who is capable of hitting some really strong shots.

Today she was really good from her as she dominated on her serve dropping only six points behind her first serve. She hit four aces and had some minor troubles on the second serve but all three break points were saved. The Italian was actually pretty solid on her second serve which is somewhat surprising but she was rather poor on the first serve.

Kostyuk read it really well and won over 50 % of those points creating four break chances in total and converting three of them. A really solid performance by a player who knew that the match was on her racquet and she played like it.
