Tennis fans reacted scathingly to Canada’s
Bianca Andreescu's
reaction during her Citi DC Open clash in Washington.
The 23-year-old shouted ‘Shut up’ to a fan who was
continuously cheering whenever she missed the serve during her first-round fixed
at the event.
Andreescu’s reaction was enough for the authorities to
remove the fan from the stands during the match.
Tennis fans on social media reacted scathingly and asked
why the same has never been done when the likes of Novak Djokovic face similar
reactions from the fans.
That day turned out to be a disappointing one for Andreescu
who ended up losing the match in three sets, despite winning the first, with a
score of 2-6, 6-3, 7-6.
The result will be a severe blow for the 2019 US Open winner
who would’ve been hoping for a longer run in the competition to be better
prepared for the mega-event.
Ever since lifting her first and till now only Grand
Slam title, Andreescu has found it hard to deliver at the highest level.
After that triumph, the Mississauga-born has not played in
the quarterfinal or beyond of any Grand Slams.
