Tennis fans reacted scathingly to Canada’s Bianca Andreescu's reaction during her Citi DC Open clash in Washington.
The 23-year-old shouted ‘Shut up’ to a fan who was continuously cheering whenever she missed the serve during her first-round fixed at the event.
Andreescu’s reaction was enough for the authorities to remove the fan from the stands during the match.
Tennis fans on social media reacted scathingly and asked why the same has never been done when the likes of Novak Djokovic face similar reactions from the fans.
That day turned out to be a disappointing one for Andreescu who ended up losing the match in three sets, despite winning the first, with a score of 2-6, 6-3, 7-6.
The result will be a severe blow for the 2019 US Open winner who would’ve been hoping for a longer run in the competition to be better prepared for the mega-event.
Ever since lifting her first and till now only Grand Slam title, Andreescu has found it hard to deliver at the highest level.
After that triumph, the Mississauga-born has not played in the quarterfinal or beyond of any Grand Slams.
