Ons Jabeur captured the hearts of many during the Wimbledon Championships, as the Tunisian reached several milestones in her amazing run to the final.
Not only did Jabeur become the first Arab woman to reach a Grand Slam final, she also has the distinction of being the first African woman to reach a Major final in the Open Era. Furthermore, her pleasant disposition and charm captivated audiences around the world, with thousands of fans supporting the 27-year old as her story unveiled.
Despite a spirited effort, Jabeur fell to Elena Rybakina in three sets. Nonetheless, former World No.1 Victoria Azarenka was one of several to shower the new World No.2 with praise, as was evident in her Twitter post following the Wimbledon final.
"One of the best things that happened to tennis is @Ons_Jabeur keep shining and sharing your light with the world! Biggest inspiration to so many!!!" wrote the two-time Grand Slam champion.
Azarenka did not compete at this year's Wimbledon event, as Russian and Belarusian nationals were banned from playing due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
