Ons Jabeur is through to her maiden grand slam final and it happened at
Wimbledon as she beat good friend
Tatjana Maria 6-2 3-6 6-1.
It was a very interesting match between two very good players and upon finishing it turned into a celebration of Tatjana Maria for what she was able to do. Jabeur had no problem yielding the spotlight to Maria who was unable to continue the fairytale. Ons was a large favourite leading up to the matchup and she largely proved it except for a rather shaky 2nd set.
The start of the match featured a lot of battling as Jabeur exerted early pressure. Maria was forced to defend in many rallies as the Tunisian player gladly took initiative. It worked for her initially as she took a 6-2 lead. Maria was still figuring things out and she finally found a good tactic in the 2nd set. It was balanced play against Jabeur who rushed things quite a bit.
It resulted in more errors than winners and that was enough for the German to take the 2nd set 6-3. The final set featured a much more serious Jabeur who settled back into a nice rhythm after resetting. She easily outplayed Maria who could not defend as well anymore. Jabeur had 10 winners and only 3 errors in the final set. Overall a very good performance from her.
