Ons Jabeur got a chance to play at home in Tunisia and she took the chance by winning fairly comfortably in her first match.
She took on Ann Li of the United States, a fairly solid player who had some good moments in Tallinn last week but she was no match for Jabeur who had tremendous support from the crowd. Jabeur broke her opponent to start the match and it showcased how eager she was to play this match.
Things only got better from there as Jabeur took a 5-1 lead and saved one break point to close it out 6-2. She dominated behind her serve dropping only two points while creating four break chances and using two of them.
The second set was quite competitive because Jabeur opted to play a bit looser. It's nothing unusual for her as she tends to do that from time to time but she was able to wiggle her way out of trouble. She allowed a whopping 7 break chances in the second set but she saved all of them.
Li on the other hand faced only 3 but lost two of them. The American simply played the most important rallies worse than Jabeur and it cost her.
