Jessica Pegula and
Coco Gauff made a winning start at the
Billie Jean King Cup putting the USA in front 2-0 against Austria after day one.
Playing in Delray Beach Pegula and Gauff established themselves pretty quickly in their matchups jumping out to an early lead which they held for the rest of the match. The Austrians couldn't do much as they generally prefer to play on clay more and these matches were played on hard courts.
Gauff defeated Julia Grabher 6-1 6-3 in the first match while Pegula followed that up with a 6-0 7-5 win over Sinja Kraus. The duo might suit up for the doubles as well in order to deliver the crucial 3rd point for their country as they generally play doubles together. That match will be played later today.
