Karolina Pliskova won her fourth title this year after defeating Petra Martic 6-3 and 6-2 in the final at the Zhengzhou Open.
Even before the start of the
Zhengzhou Open, Pliskova was the biggest favorite at the tournament. During the whole tournament she served very well what got her to the finals, where she met Martic.
Pliskova didn't start the match well when she was losing 0-2 in the first set. But then she was able to win 12 of the following 15 games, giving her opponent no chance to turn the match. Pliskova scored 7 aces in the match and won up to 71% of points after her first serve.
She won her fourth title this year in Zhengzhou and improved her match record to 49-13. In the
WTA ranking, she is only 86 points behind the world number one
Ashleigh Barty.
Melichar and Peschke won the title in the doubles final. They coped with Chen / Hsieh, Rosolska / Tomljanovic and Krawczyk / Perez on their way to the final. In the final, they managed to beat Wickmayer and Zidansek 6-1 and 7-6.
