Yulia Putintseva capped off a great week in Budapest with a straight-sets win over Kalinina capturing the Hungarian Grand Prix title 6-4 6-0.
The player from Kazakhstan needed only 72 minutes to win a match where she dominated from the start. Putintseva, a two time French Open quarterfinalist, just showed her great clay game against Kalinina who played in her first final. Putintseva jumped out to an early 3-0 lead and she never looked back in the first set.
Kalinina was trying to find a breakthrough with her signature aggressive play but she never found a way to trouble Putintseva much. The Kazakhstani player lost her serve only once in the first set that was the only break point she would allow.
After capturing the first set with 6-4 Putintseva continued playing great tennis early on as she immediately broke Kalinina for a 2-0 lead. After that, she added yet another break as the Ukrainian completely collapsed.
Determined to end it quickly, Putintseva kept applying the pressure and Kalinina faltered under the pressure losing her serve for the 3rd time in the 2nd set and giving Yulia the 6-0 2nd set win.
She secured her 2nd WTA tour with the victory capping off a great week in Budapest.
