Battling with a foot injury Emma Raducanu loses out her @BJKCup match vs Markéta Vondroušová #BackTheBrits 🇬🇧
Great Britain and the Czech Republic were tied at 1-1 heading into today's matchup with Raducanu failing to deliver against the former French Open finalist.
It was not a very good display from the Brit who faced a player known for her clay-court prowess. Vondrousova plays a very tricky style of tennis and generally has seen an uptick in form in the past year thanks to her run at the Olympic Games. Raducanu produced a great effort yesterday but today she was simply overmatched against an experienced opponent on a foreign surface.
The first set was not pretty at all as the Brit did not win a single service game in the first set winning only four points total when serving. Her opponent did not serve well either but she was far superior in rallies losing her serve only once in the set en route to the 6-1 finish. Things did not go better in the 2nd set either as Vondrousova jumped out to an early 2-0 lead.
Raducanu did pull that break back but the Czech player quickly added another break and confirmed with a strong service game for the 4-1 lead in the 2nd set. She then added another break as Raducanu could not do anything right and Vondrousova served out the match 6-1 6-1. Great Britain now trails 1-2 and they will need to win the next match in order to stay alive for the Finals.
