Britain’s
Emma Raducanu earns a handsome amount of money despite
not playing a single match at
Wimbledon.
The 20-year-old has not played a single match at the third
Grand Slam of the year because of numerous injuries in the recent past.
However, despite that, Raducanu will earn as much as
$500,000 as compensation from the sponsors.
The amount will definitely make the Toronto-born feel much
better going forward, especially considering she is having a tough time while
playing at the highest level.
Raducanu broke onto the scene during the 2021 US Open where
she clinched the title after beating Canada’s Leylah Fernandez in straight sets
in the final with a score of 6-4, 6-3.
The result was a shocking one considering that Raducanu entered
the Grand Slam through a qualifier and still went all the way and lifted the
title.
After that result, things have not been great for the former
world number 10 who has struggled with fitness concerns.
Since then, out of the seven Grand Slams, she has
participated in five of them. During that, she suffered four second rounds and
one first-round exit.
In 2023, Raducanu has only taken part in one Grand Slam — Australian
Open — where she suffered a defeat in the second round against America’s Coco
Gauff with a score of 6-3, 7-6.
