Elena Rybakina put on a solid performance on Saturday to secure her spot in the final of the Adelaide International I, defeating Misaki Doi in straight sets.
Rybakina pulled off the 6-4 6-3 victory in just an hour and 23 minutes, outplaying her Japanese opponent with relative ease. The seventh seed was dominant on serve, hitting nine aces and facing only two break points in the match.
After a close first set that saw Doi struggle to hold serve, Rybakina was dominant in the second. The Kazakhstan No.1 relentlessly attacked her opponent's second serve, forcing Doi to be on the defensive from the start of each point. This led to her breaking the Yokohama native on two occasions, which was sufficient for the Kazakh star to win the match.
Rybakina will hope to win her third career WTA singles title in the final on Sunday, when she faces the winner between World No.1 Ashleigh Barty and 2020 French Open champion Iga Swiatek.
