Kremlin Cup is a WTA 500 event running in the week after the BNP Paribas Open and its main draw just got boosted with Sabalenka, Kontaveit and Potapova.
Aryna Sabalenka has not played at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells after testing positive for the Coronavirus only days before the event started. Sabalenka who has been vocally against the vaccine expressed regret about contracting the virus but vowed to come back better. Well, that better will be at the VTB Kremlin Cup in Russia which will start after the Indian Wells event ends.
From October 18th till October 24th, the event will host some of the best in the world and now Sabalenka is among them thanks to a wild card. Besides Sabalenka other notable wild card recipients include
Anett Kontaveit who is making a push for Guadalajara and native Potapova who has shown some promise in 2021.
Besides those three the event is loaded with tennis superstars such as Garbine Muguruza, Maria Sakkari, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, Ons Jabeur, Angelique Kerber and more. The final wild card spot was awarded to Simona Halep.
