Aryna Sabalenka played one of the best sets all year long against
Bianca Andreescu to win at the
Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart 6-1 3-6 6-2.
The Belarussian player has not played the best of tennis this season struggling in several events. We saw everything from serving issues to confidence issues plaguing her but today against Andreescu was very good. Sabaelnka reached the final last year losing to Barty so she enjoys playing in the Arena. From the start, it was evident she was the better player.
She moved better, her decision making was better and she was way more consistent from the baseline. Andreescu scored a good win in her return but she is far off from taking down one of the best players in the world. Especially when Sabalenka seemingly found her groove. Sabalenka served well at the start dropping only 6 points on her serve in the first set.
She was very aggresive on return as well and it worked with great success. The 2nd set is where Andreescu turned the match upside down. Sabalenka lost a bit of focus and her play dropped off with Andreescu seeizng the chacne to take a 4-0 lead. She gave one break back but held firm to win the set with 6-3. Sabalenka counter with some of the best tennis she played recently.
She served and played great in the final set taking an early break and never looking back. The Belarussian player finished off the job with 6-2 after saving multiple break points at 4-2.
