Former world number one
Serena Williams and her sister Venus
Williams killed the catwalk at Vogue World Paris. The sisters are regarded
as two of the best players in the history of women’s tennis in the singles
category in the Open era.
In a video posted on the social media platform X—previously known as Twitter—both sisters appeared on a catwalk at Vogue World Paris in the French capital and absolutely killed it. While Serena has retired from professional tennis, Venus has continued to play despite turning 44 in June. Serena finished her
illustrious career after winning 23 Grand Slams in the singles category, the
most in women’s tennis. She eventually retired in September 2022 to focus
on family life.
The 42-year-old’s most successful competitions were the Australian Open and Wimbledon, where she won the title seven times. Her first major title was the US Open in 1999, where she defeated the former
world number one Switzerland’s Martina Hingis in the final in straight sets
with a score of 6-3, 7-6.
Her last major title was the Australian Open in 2017, when
she defeated her sister Venus in the final in straight sets with a score of
6-4, 6-4. That’s not it, as she also won an Olympic gold medal in the singles
category in 2012 after beating Russia’s Maria Sharapova in the final in
straight sets with a score of 6-0, 6-1.
On the other hand, Venus has not been as successful on the
court but still has a very impressive record. She has lifted the Grand Slam seven times in the singles category. Her most successful competition has been Wimbledon, where she has lifted the title five times.
Her first major title was in 2000 when she lifted Wimbledon
after beating Lindsay Davenport in the final in straight sets with a score of
6-3, 7-6. Her last major title was also in London, where she defeated her sister
Serena in 2008 in straight sets with a score of 7-5, 6-4.
