Simona Halep confirms separation from husband

Reports from Romania suggested that Simona Halep is divorcing her husband of one year Toni Iuruc and today she confirmed the rumours.

She broke the news on social media using Instagram to post a written story. The original story was in Romanian but fans have since translated it and it says:

"Toni and I decided by mutual consent to go our separate ways. I would like the press to respect our privacy and treat this subject with decency and discretion."

Her husband, businessman Toni Iuruc also confirmed the news through a representative saying:

“We decided together with Simona to break up. Stop insisting, it’s my last public appearance. The rest will be handled by the lawyers in the most civilized way possible. Thank you for understanding”
