Simona Halep wins Internazionali BNL d'Italia Rome 2020 after Pliskova retires only 32 minutes into the match.
Simona Halep came out furious today in
Rome as she broke Pliskova's serve immidietly. Karolina has been serving very well throughout the week but Halep was just too much to handle today. She would go on to play fantastic tennis throughout the first set never giving Pliskova anything, literally. Pliskova had mistake after mistake while Halep was just clinical from the baseline hitting shot after shot. Soon we found ourselves at the end of the set with Halep winning it 6-0.
It was a catastrophe of a set for Pliskova who won less than 30 of her service and return points. The 2nd set started off in a similar fashion as she surrendered her serve immidietly winning only one point in the game. But she showed some fighting spirit in the next game winning it to get the break back. The match wouldn't last much longer as Halep broke Pliskova once more in the next game and that was when the Czech decided to retire from the match.
All in all, the final lasted only 32 minutes and while it is still not clear what happened with Pliskova, Halep wins another trophy after a good week in Rome and some luck in the final. Congratulations.
